How to Inflate your CEMG Shelter

Tuesday October 12, 2021

CEMG Shelters can be used in a wide variety of configurations and use cases. Configurations include Medical Surge Capacity, Mobile Hospitals, Emergency Operation Centers, Decontamination Systems, Drive-Through Point of Distribution centers, Mobile Vaccination Clinics, Field Bunk Houses, temporary disaster shelters and more. Most shelters can be set up with as few as 2 people and only require about 8 minutes to inflate.

Before unpacking your shelter, be sure to check the area it will be inflated for uneven spots and debris. Sharp objects can pierce the shelter if not removed beforehand. This is a critical step that should always be done to increase the longevity of your shelter.

Before inflating a CEMG Shelter it should be unpacked and laid out properly. If you’re using multiple structures for your response, be sure to lay them out with the Velcro connections lined up. It is also a good idea to utilize tarps for an added layer of protection under your shelter floor.

Once your shelter has been laid out flat, locate the “Air Control” flap on the corner of each individual structure. Open the flap and turn the yellow check valve a quarter turn clockwise. Now connect the hose from the blower to the valve and begin to inflate. The largest structure should take about 8 minutes to inflate. Over-inflation is not possible with CEMG shelters as they have pressure relief valves to slowly release any excess air. CEMG shelters can also be inflated using SCBA bottles connected to the SCBA Valve. Once the shelter has been inflated, remove the hose and turn the yellow check valve back to its closed position.

These shelters can withstand winds of up to 60 miles per hour with the help of wind absorbent tie downs and multiple stake points. Secure all corners using the provided stakes or appropriately weighted tie-downs.

Your shelter is now ready for use, configure your interior kit and lighting if applicable and set up your equipment inside. HVAC systems and other features can now be set up also. If the shelter is going to stay up overnight, install an air guard on the SCBA valve.
